Understanding what emergency services there are and where to find them is important. Local government is important in setting the rules of the town where we live, so make sure you know what regulations are important and where to find out about them. Local community services can be very helpful if you have any questions or problems.

Another Important Resource is the Welcome to Canada guidebook. Chapter 3: Sources of Information has government information sources, Chapter 4: Your Rights and Freedoms in Canada has information on diversity and equality, and Chapter 5: Canadian Law and Justice has legal information as well as information about child and senior abuse, family violence, and family law.
Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre
The Kelty Mental Health Resource Centre is a provincial resource centre that provides mental health and substance use information, resources, and peer support to children, youth and their families from across BC.
In June 2014 , they developed some materials and resources to support people from different cultures who are experiencing mental health or substance use issues.
